Introduction Of Sciatica:
Irritation or inflammation of sciatic is nerve results in Sciatica. The Sciatic nerve is longest one in the body from lower back region to the back of leg through buttocks. It controls many muscular movements of the bosy and also provides sensory inputs to brain. Sciatica is the common form of backache and leg pain but its true meaning is generally misunderstood. It’s the irritation in one of the five spinal nerve roots. The pain of Sciatica is felt in lower back, leg, foot, buttock etc. Sometimes not just the pain but in addition to the pain more severe problems like numbness, muscular weakness or it can also be pins or needles or tingling around the body. Sciatica word was first known in 1451. The treatment of sciatica and the sciatic symptoms is different and it depends upon the cause of symptoms.
Symptoms Of Sciatica:
The very common symptom of Sciatica is pain. Most of the people complains severe pain in low back which moves down to buttock and leg. The pain also occurs in certain movements. A worse pain occurs in lower back and legs when activities like standing and sitting performed. Back and hip pain which worsens by coughing, sneezing, laughing etc. weakness in foot is also a symptom of Sciatica.

The common causes for Sciatica are: Herniated Disc: this is the most common cause of Sciatica when one of the discs of lower back compress the nerve roots which forms sciatic nerve. This creates irritation in nerve and results in swelling and pain in Sciatic nerve.2)Lumbar Spinal stenosis: its narrowing of spinal canal in lower back region which compress the nerves which forms sciatic nerves.3)Piriformis syndrome: when piriformis muscle located in buttock region very near to sciatic nerve becomes tight it puts pressure on sciatic nerve resulting irritation. All these are general causes for Sciatica.
Home Care Of Sciatica:
Normally the Sciatica pain is so worse that it makes you completely bedridden or it affects your activities. You must take proper care of Sciatica like you should not bend or sit on a low chair it can worsen your pain. You can try the cold back as first aid. You can also try heat treatment with heating electric pad or hot water.lie straight with a pillow under your knees. Do not lie in bed completely but keep on performing some activities otherwise it can worsen your Sciatica pain.
Sciatica Prevention:
To avoid Sciatica pain always opt for proper lifting techniques like keep your back straight and bend your knees to pick up anything. It is the best way to avoid mechanical backache problems. Keep yourself flexible and your muscles toned. It will help you to keep you away from any kind of back botherations. Maintain your weight according to your height and keep your posture proper will keep you away from Sciatica pains.
