Facet Thermal Ablation: - Get Rid from Bone Structure Disease

One of the treatments for bone structure diseases is known as facet thermal ablation in medical circles. This specific procedure is meant to deal with conditions of the spine using the technique that is recommended by the laser spine institute. When one looks at this operation, it is easy to notice the resemblance to the root canal procedures that we see in dental practice.

Laser device for facet thermal ablation

The laser device is used to clean the facet join. The laser can also be used to numb the nerve that causes pain. In short the affected nerve is simply disabled so that the patient can have some relief from the excruciating pain. The effectiveness of the procedure has meant that facet thermal ablation continues to grow in popularity with both the patients and the doctors.

The application list for facet thermal ablation

There are a number of conditions that can be treated in this way. It all depends on how the clinician is able to assess the progress of the condition and the prospects of recovery for the sufferer. Facet disease can be treated through facet thermal ablation and it has also been found to be effective with the facet joint syndrome. Those who are suffering from facet hypertrophy or facet arthritis are advised to consider facet thermal ablation. In fact it has been found to work well in dealing with degenerative face joints and the associated conditions. One cannot conduct a full diagnosis on a remote basis but the patient will have to visit their specialist so that a proper diagnosis can be completed.

The actual procedure for facet thermal ablation

The procedure can be classified as being invasive and therefore there is an absolute need for a local anesthetic. A general anesthetic might be too much and could end up causing problems for the patient in terms of recovery time. The incision is made to grant access to the doctor. A depuy tube is then placed within the incision to allow the operation to take place. Going through this process will aid the recovery process and will ensure that the facet thermal ablation does not do serious damage to the muscles within the vicinity. The whole process will take up to three quarters of an hour which is then followed by up to two hours of monitoring to ensure that the patient is doing fine.

Advantages of the facet thermal ablation procedure

Generally the patients will find that they have a very short recovery period and do not need to be kept within the hospital for long periods of time. The fact that they use a local anesthetic means that most people will be able to use the procedure. The possibilities of scar formation are very limited so people who are concerned about their looks need not worry about the procedure. Rather than going through pain for an extended period of time, people should consider facet thermal ablation as a viable alternative. It is safe and relatively easy.
