Difference between the Bulging disc lower back problem and the herniated disc problem:

People often confuse the bulging disc lower back problem to the herniated disc problem. The difference between these two conditions is that, bulging disc mainly occurs due to aging and takes a lot of time to develop. But, herniated disc is not caused due to age related issues. It occurs suddenly, mainly due to accidents that injure the spinal region. The bulging disc is not painful, whereas, the herniated disc condition can be very painful for a patient. The bulging disc, though common in the lower back region, might happen in the neck region as well; the herniated disc can affect the legs.

Causes of the Bulging disc lower back problem:

Old age is the main cause of the bulging disc lower back problem. Due to aging, the spinal joints start compressing. This happens due to the shrinkage of the mucus of the joints. The lower back region is affected very easily by this problem; as, the lumbar bones are larger than all other bones of the spinal region, and, their weights and stresses are much bigger than other spinal areas. Thus, the chances of the bones of the lower back region getting ruptured are more when compared to the other areas of the spine. But, the neck gets affected in case a nerve in the shoulder region gets affected by a bulging disc lower back trouble.

Diagnosing the Bulging disc lower back problem:

As the bulging disc lower back problem does not cause any pain, it is very hard to detect. In most cases, people come to know of this conditioning while undergoing checkups for other conditions or while undergoing standard imaging processes such as procedures such as MRI scans. This condition does not create many issues unless it leads to a herniated disc. Treating the bulging disc lower back is mainly based on lifestyle control. Resting and lifting are restricted. Alternating between heat and ice therapy is strongly recommended. Anti inflammation medication or injecting the patient with cortisone is common. Painkillers are prescribed by doctors for reducing the pain.

Treating the Bulging disc lower back problem:

Generally, the above mentioned types of conservation and restriction based treatments are good enough for fixing the bulging disc lower back problems. In very severe cases, where extreme pain is caused by the compressing of the nerves, surgeries are done to reduce the pain. But, these cases are not very common. You will need to get a proper and thorough checkup from a doctor to understand exactly what the problem is, where it is originating from and whether it has been caused by an injury or not. Do not neglect any type of pain that might indicate this severe condition of bulging lower disc back.

Dangers of the Bulging disc lower back problem:

If not treated early, the bulging disc lower back condition can lead to other serious problems. If a shifted disc punctures the sciatica nerve, the pain spreads across different areas like buttocks, cuffs, legs, thighs, ankles, etc. Also, the nerves in the kidney region and the bowel region pass through the lumbar area. If these nerves get affected, bowel related problems and kidney problems might occur. You should consult a doctor as soon as you feel any pain in the lower back region. Pain that spreads from the neck region to the shoulders and arms also indicates this condition of bulging disc lower back.

What is the Bulging disc lower back problem?

The Bulging disc lower back problem is a health issue related to the spinal region. This problem is caused due to the bulging of a disc from one of the spinal crevices. Discs are the gel like soft substance that protects the vertebra of the spine. This problem happens in case a spinal disk gets dislocated from its standard orbit. In most of the cases, this condition is caused due to old age. This condition generally does not occur accidentally or suddenly. It is developed through a gradual process. In most of the cases, patients do not suffer any pain until the shifted disc gets herniated or penetrates a nerve.
