What can cause shoulder bone spurs:

There are a number of causes which can cause shoulder bone spurs. Some basic reasons for the formation of spurs in shoulders are stated here. The most important cause of shoulder bone spurs is osteoarthritis which damages the cartilage cushion between the joints and as a result a lot of pain occurs in the joint because of friction that is produced when the joints move. Some times our body tries to repair this cartilage loss resulting in the pain. The second most obvious reason for the formation of shoulder bone spurs is that the calcium gets deposited at the point where the tendons or ligaments are attached to the bones, resulting in the spurs.

Basic symptoms of shoulder bone spurs

You may not face any symptoms for years even If you are having shoulder bone spurs. The motion of your arm gets restricted by these spurs because they restrict the movement or rotation of muscles or joints in the shoulder and you may face unbearable pain. And after doing any heavy activity that pain can enhance or the enhancement in pain can also occur when the shoulder bone faces pressure. Inflammation or swelling in the shoulder bone can also be the indication of shoulder bone spurs. And sometimes these spurs can also tear your muscles or soft tissues causing a lot of damage.

Diagnosis of shoulder bone spurs:

Now days, in the era of latest technology, shoulder bone spurs can be easily diagnosed with the help of x-ray. As calcium is the main constituent of bone spurs so in x-ray they are very distinctly visible. If the spurs are not visible in x-ray, than you can have MRI or a CAT-scan for the proper diagnosis. The CAT scan and MRI are also used during the treatment of these spurs. You can consult a doctor for the diagnosis of the condition. Some times our joints or bones faces sudden injury or traumas and than our body tries to repair that injury and in this heeling process a new bone is formed which can also be regarded as shoulder bone spurs.

How to treat the shoulder bone spurs

You must try to treat the cause of the shoulder bone spurs first before going to treat the disease itself as it will prevent the trouble from being worse. Bone spurs treatment is totally dependant on the cause and location of the bone spurs.Taking rest is the best treatment, so avoid the movement of shoulder muscles and the shoulder bone. Because most of the pain which occurs during the spurs, is due to the irritation caused by the spur in the tissues surrounding it.You must use pain killers and anti inflammatory and muscle relaxants to reduce the pain, swelling and tension in muscles. If these spurs still don't disappear than the final destination is the surgical hospital where you can go for the surgery to treat these shoulder bone spurs.
